Wondering about a special vehicle.

There are a lot of different vehicles out there and a big percentage of them are special to someone. Some are special because they are stylish, some because they are fast, some because they are unique, some because they bring back memories, and some because they are (or were) mine. You can substitute your name for the last word in the last sentence.

For example, remember one of my old blogs where I should you pictures of my most favorite car that I had ever owned? Here is a picture of that car, a 1957 Chevy Convertible:
Now that was a great car, fast and sleek with great styling and a handsome driver (grin). OK, scratch the last part about the driver. I attended the yearly NHRA Top Fuel Drag Race at the Royal Purple Race Track just west of Baytown, TX a few weeks ago. I will not bore you with all the details of the race, since I did that in a blog last year, and, if you get me started, it would take you all day to read all that I would write about it. You want details, ask me in person or better yet, attend one. No other experience compares to it.

OK, while I was there I spotted a vehicle in the pits that I believe would just about be perfect for me and the three B’s. You know, us old farts: Me, Billy-Bob, Ben, and Barney. This vehicle has styling that brings back the memory of the 50’s, has seating enough for all of us, and doesn’t use much fuel. Take a look and see what you think:

Now the three B’s could get more use out of it than I would, since I don’t play golf and have no desire to do so. But I think it would be a great ride and I could use it to take the garbage down to the road. . .

You all have a fine day now, you hear?

  1. Florida is full of those custom golf carts. Some have upped the power to give them a lot more zip. Illegal, sure, but until you put the pedal to the metal, no one knows.

  2. Strange you should mention the golf carts cause I just saw a special on TV the other night about the custom carts in some retirement place. Seems to me it was in Arizona maybe. or maybe Florida, heck I don't remember , I slept since then.

  3. Sixbears, why is it illigal to up the power? They are not allowed on public highways anyway, so if you just run them around a golf course or your own back 40, who should care? I am cureous, what do they do, just up the voltage or new electic drive motor or both?

Ben, I am sure there are a lot of customized carts. This one caught my eye since my favorite car was the 1957 Chevy.

  4. DD They drive them on the road in florida my sister has one in Davenport and use's it to go shopping at the mall all the time and to make them go faster they reduce the diameter of the rear drive pully more speed but less power for hills. It works good if you drive where it is flat..

  5. Ricky is right. There are legal to drive in many places in FL. They are supposed to have limits on the top speed. The pulley thing works, but some also up voltages and/or install bigger motors.

The 57 Chevy is a popular body type. Have also seen them in Hummer skins.

  6. Thanks for the info, I didn't know they were allowed on the highways. Most of the roads I know of have minimum speed limits, usually around 45 mph. Are they inspected and licensed? If not, why not, all other powered vehicles on the road must be?
