Wondering what kind of worm it is.

I was walking past the table yesterday and spotted this big ugly worm trying to hide under some paper.  It was really a shock to see such a worm on the table that we eat off of, so hiding my fear, I gathered all my composure and strength and whopped it a good one with my bear hand.  Ouch!!  I think it stung me, then I saw its terrible stinging tail, or is it its head?  This is the most ugly and dangerous creepy critter that I ever saw.  Maybe I should get my gun!!  Na, that would make too much of mess and disturb my wife, who is always doing crafts of some kind; either painting, or crocheting, or weaving, or making things our of paper or other material.  She is quite the artist and is into many different things.

Then I realized that this "ugly worm" with the big stinger must be a tool for one of her projects, maybe a weaving project.  She has all kinds and sizes of looms, from quite large down to very small, and everything in between.  Now, don't tell her that I almost flattened one of her art project tools.  Actually, it hurt my hand more than I could hurt it.  Here is a picture so you can see how easily it is to confuse it with some creepy crawler:

So, what do you think?  What would you have done?  Of course being a big brave man like I am, I didn't bother to tell her I almost flattened one of her artistic tools; the prudent thing to do.  Now you all try to avoid all those weird looking critters out there and have yourself a great day, you hear?

  1. Still think you should shoot it, just to be sure.

  2. You worry me Dizzy. Anybody can see that thing ain't no "real" worm critter. That is unless you was still half asleep, and then you did the right thing.

  3. Uh,,DD,,,when was the last time you had your eyes checked?

  4. Sixbears, I should have, I just discovered that my wife has 4 of them and they are called knit picks. Good name for something a women uses.

BB, they must multiple. I now see them different places. Looks as real as some real ones do (grin).

Gypsy, it was, quite a battle ensued.

Trouble, It is about time to get my eyes checked.

  5. I would never have used my bare hand, I would have wacked it with my shoe!

I think you need to have your eyes checked...for that matter so do I :(

  6. Yeah, my wife knit picks, too. Wonder how that term made the jump to other use. Bet it had it's roots in a domestic assault with said tool. Poor guy probably had his eye plucked out like an olive on a swizzle stick.

  7. MsB, you sure can tell when I can't think of anything to blog about (grin).

Jimdabob, Careful, your wife may read this, too. I like your theory of how it all got started.
