Wondering if the heat got to her?

It got to a hundred or so degrees yesterday.  Not the first time this year and definitely will not be the last time.  It was so hot the birds were taking steam baths in the pond!!  But like they say around here, it isn't the heat, it's the humidity.  The only plus side to the humidity is that it is a lot better for your complexion than the dry air of the desert.  Those swamp cooler that they use out west of us just wouldn't function here.  Moisture has a very hard time trying to evaporate.  That makes the temperatures seem just that much hotter.

I think the heat got to my wife.  Why do I think that?  Well, I noticed the card and envelope that she was making to send to my Aunt.  I think I will post some pictures of it and see what you think:

And the card only:

How about a close up:

See the names on the hat bands?  I go by Dizzy and she goes by Dusty.  Dizzy is short for Dizzy-Dick and Dusty is short for Dusty-Corner.  Hope her pictures cooled you all down a bit.

By the way, today is our wedding anniversary.  I believe it is our 49th.  Yep, it is our 49th.  My how time flies when you are having fun. . .

Now you all have a nice cool day today, you hear?

  5. Well doggone it, 49 years is really something - a milestone, and getting ready for the big 5-0 next year. Happy anniversary to you and your wife.

I agree about the humidity being better for your skin, just not too much humidity,

  7. Happy Anniversary to both of you. Congratulations are definitely in order. You've heard that statement "mind over matter"... maybe I should be like Dusty and think of snowmen and this 108+ heat won't matter.

  9. Sixbears, I am planning on keeping her. Without her I would only be half a couple (grin).

Carolyn, We have had fun but there have also been some rough spots, like loosing a son in an auto accident.

Sharon, like the song says "If I had to do again, I'd do it all over with you".

Trouble, I guess multiple marriages is the norm no-a-days.

Gypsy, Do you think we can make together for another full year?? (grin)

Butterbean carpenter, we sure have had fun. If we did last another 49 we would be the oldest couple in the world!!!

The Odd Essay, think of them while sipping an ice cold tea. . . but I doubt if that will work.

    Shadowmoss, thanks for good wishes.

Wil, Most everyone in our families have stayed together until death separated them. They were either all in love or just plain stubborn. We are both.

    1. Funny you should say that. I was telling Ruth this morning that about my grandparents fiftieth aniversery celebration at the Narrows. That place went away long ago when they redid the road. I guess we could have a picnic at the over-look.

  15. May I first congratulate you both on 49 years of marriage. What a massive achievement and accomplishment. How did you do it? You and your wife need to be giving serious marriage advice to people who are contemplating marriage. Well done to you both and I hope you have another 49 years. Yes, you never know. Hope you celebrated in style too. Any photos of the original day Dizzy-Dick?

As for the cards, maybe you and your wife should try taking a trip to England to experience the cold weather for a few weeks, we get it most of the time. I have a feeling you'd enjoy the heat more, ha ha, ha. Loved the cards though.

    1. Thanks Rum-Punch, at times, it wan't easy but now we are both glad it worked out. Don't have any photos of the original day (we eloped) but have some someplace of a party that friends thru us. If I can find them I will post them.

I used to live in Pennsylvania where the winters were long, dark, and cold. Moved to Texas in late 1980.
