Wondering, Do You Think I Live in the Past?

I like old TV shows and I watch a lot of them.  In fact, I just got through watching an Andy Griffith show (Matlock) that was not all about Andy but it was the last show or performance that George Peppard did.  He died (supposedly of pneumonia although he had been  diagnosed with lung cancer and he smoked three packs of cigarettes a day) on May 8th of 1994, almost 20 years ago.  Sure doesn't seem that long.

He came a long ways from his debut in 1949 at the Pittsburgh Playhouse.  He made many movies; I am sure you all heard of or remember seeing "Breakfast at Tiffany's", "Man Against the Mob", "How the West Was Won", and many others.  He also did a lot of TV shows and made for TV movies, such as Matlock, Kraft Television Theatre, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Banacek, and the very popular The A-Team, and many more.

Here is a picture of George in his younger days:

And after he got a few years under his belt.  I think he looked better the older he got:

George Peppard was married five times and had three children.  His first wife, Helen Davies bore him two (a son and daughter) of his three children.  His second wife, Elizabeth Ashley bore him a son.  He received at least three awards for his acting and he also got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  I, for one, always enjoyed his relaxed style of acting.  He was one of the great ones. . . almost way up there with Mr. T (grin).

I am real sorry, but I am going to leave you with that "death stare" that Mr-T was so very good at. . . .Now, you all have a great day, you hear?

  1. Truth is, I have no idea who Mr T is... so if you live in the past I must live in the ice age. (at 32 degrees here in TX at 2pm, I do believe that's true)

    1. Didn't you say on one of your blogs that you never watched TV? Well that could be the reason (grin).

  2. I remember Mr. T very well. George Peppard was certainly a good looking man, and got better as he got older.

  4. I mostly remember him in the "Blue Max" WWI dog fighting movie. Great movie. Didn't watch much of the TV stuff he was in.
