All of the planets spin (rotate) on an axis and at the same time orbit around the Sun.
This segment looks at just how fast each of the planets move. I wonder why we don't all just fly off into space. |

It is amazing that if we were standing on the equator we would be spinning around with the earth at 1040 mph and not only that we would be spinning around the sun at 66641 mph!! And you wonder why I am Dizzy. . .
Now you will understand why the stuff we sweep up on this orbital trip moves so fast that when it enters our atmosphere it heats up and the smaller ones burn up completely before smashing into the earth. OK, I just thought that some of you would find this chart interesting. Either way, if you did or didn't, I want you to have a great day, you hear?
I'm wondering what makes Jupiter and Saturn spin so fast.
ReplyDeleteThey are not spinning as fast as it appears. They have a huge diameter compared to the other planet so even if thy were spinning at the same rate (rpms) a point at their equators would be speeding at a high miles per hour because of the large diameter.
ReplyDeleteIt makes sense when you put it that way, but it's a little too complex for my mind to comprehend on a spring day!
ReplyDeleteI don't. believe the info I posted will change anyone's life at all. I just find this stuff really interesting.
DeleteI'll admit I've never thought of this before.... today my main thought was... What time will we arrive in Livingston? (4pm)
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the area.
DeleteYou are making me dizzy, to read how fast we are spinning. No wonder I get vertigo now and then.
