These are two satellite pictures that show the dust blowing off the African continent and heading our way. I saw pictures like this on the TV news and I got these pictures off the internet. I can not guarantee that they are of the current dust problem or a prior one. This has happened before many times and it will happen again.
You can tell the difference between the dust and the clouds. The dust is brown and the clouds are white. When it gets here, I think I will stay inside until it passes. Hope your skies are blue today and not brown. Either way, please have a great day, you hear?
Corrections: The dust got here a couple of weeks ago. I guess that is why I have been coughing for quite awhile.
I had no idea dust could blow that far!
ReplyDeleteOnce it gets up in the air, it can travel in the trade winds, etc.
DeleteDust is no good for me either. Take it easy Dizzy.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should slow down my rocking in my rocking chair.
DeleteThe scary thing is that as parts of our continent get drier, we will start sending dust up into the atmosphere. Another Dust Bowl!
ReplyDeleteYep and since high altitude winds blow from east to west, it will all end up in your state of California (grin)
DeletedDD, when the air gets like that, it feels like vise-grips on your chest bone, better hide out for awhile.
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to tell me twice. Any excuse to stay in out of the heat will work.
DeleteI lived in Huntsville, AL for about 5 years back in the mid 70's. One of the things we would get every summer were the African dust clouds blowing. There was a haze over everything till it passed.
ReplyDeleteYes, this isn't the first time for here in the Houston area, either.
DeleteWhat an interesting phenomenon! Sure hope it goes away quickly and you stop coughing soon.
ReplyDeleteCough seems to be getting better, but the sky is still not the blue it should be.
DeleteIt's here too, and i stay indoors as much as possible. Heard it will be gone by friday. Sure hope so.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't seem to be as bad as the last one, but it may kick back up again.

ReplyDeleteIt's too wet up here by the Red River to have dust. We had over 5 inches of rain yesterday. It will have to come in as mud I guess.
ReplyDeleteYep, you may get brown rain.
DeleteAnd I thought the pollen was bad! Geez.... it's always something.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good excuse to stay indoors and enjoy the AC.
