Wondering why my wife wants a Ninja?

Yesterday, my wife said that she wants a Ninja.  What??  Will a Samurai do?  Am I not good enough to protect you?  She said no, she wants a Ninja and she wanted to go to Wal-Mart to get one.  Dang, I know they sell a large variety of stuff, but Ninjas??

Or one like this guy who doesn't look very oriental:

Or one like this:

So, we head on in to town and park in Wal-Marts parking lot.  We go inside and she goes straight to the Ninja display.  Wow, I guess Wal-Mart does sell Ninjas!

Well, it wasn't exactly what I expected a Ninja to be but it sure was a relief that it wasn't like the ones pictured above.  OK, wait a minute and I will go take a picture of her new Ninja. . . .

OK, I am back with the picture.  Ready?

Here it is:

She used it last night to chop up stuff for our salads.  We make a meal out of salads so this gadget will save her a lot of chopping by hand and the danger of cutting her own fingers.  It only takes about a second or two to chop everything up.  Seriously, that is all the longer it takes.  Scared the dogs the first time she turned it on.  Powerful little guy.  Guess that is why they call it a Ninja. . .

Now, eat your salads and have a great day, you hear?

Wondering about seldom heard statements.

I was racking my brain this morning trying to come up with a subject for today's blog.  Then I was talking to my wife and ask her the question which is first on my list.  This got me to thinking of other statements that are seldom heard, so I made up a partial list.  These are all my own thoughts, so if you have heard any better ones or can make up some better ones, please add to the list when you comment.

I’m hard of hearing; can you tell me what I just said?

Wow!  Do you really believe I deserve this raise?

I know I am pretty, but just tell me I’m ugly.

I came in to see you doc, cause I feel good.

I can’t sleep because you are not snoring loud enough.

Stop thief!  You forgot the money in the cookie jar.

The guy saying, “Not tonight honey, I am too tired”.

I’m studying to learn how to make punch cards for computer programs.

I always try to pay more than my fair share of taxes.

My hot-rod car is slower than your car.

Thanks honey for telling me I look fat.

When an officer stops you for weaving; “maybe you ought to stop and get another drink before heading home.”

OK, yes I know those are stupid, but I feel stupid today but at least I have a grin on my face.  Now, I hope I put a grin on your face, too.  Have a great day, you hear?

New middle brake light installation.

As I told you in my older blog, I still need to take the actual driving part of the DMV test to get the class-B endorsement on my driving license.  I figured that the nice policeman who will be giving the test will check all safety items that need to be working and/or on hand for quick use.  Therefore, I spent yesterday on that project and hopefully will get that completed today.

The easiest fix was to get a box of three warning triangles.  The truck supply store just down the road a short piece had them.  They ain't cheap and when I picked up the little red box they are packed it, I was surprised by the weight but then I realized that they needed an heavy bottom to keep them from blowing over when placed at the side of the road.  I already had some red emergency lighting for night use but nothing for the daylight hours.  (Don't know why, because I don't usually drive at night)

Here is a picture of one of my storage compartments where I keep stuff related to maintenance and upkeep of the motor-home.  The red box in front contains the new warning triangles and just behind the box on the left are the two night flashing warning lights.

In case you are wondering, the wood blocks are used under my leveling hydraulic jacks to keep them from extending too far on uneven ground and to give them a flat, firm place to make contact.  Before I had them, I had the jacks sink into the ground in some places where a special parking pad was not available.

Here is a picture of the old center light which consisted of a lot of LED bulbs.  I have not yet found any to exactly match, but since time is short, I just bought one that will work.  Also, notice my reflection in the back of the RV.  That light is way short of being half way up the back of the coach and to work on it, I had to stand on the trailer hitch in order to reach it:

This is what it looked like underneath:

And where the wire goes through to it:

And this is the new one.  Actually need to find an angle to mount it to, but maybe for now will just mount it flat and let the lights stick straight up.   The lights will be visible but the reflector part of the light will not.  I will think about it for awhile.  No sense getting in a hurry when work is involved. (grin)

So that is the story about my RV's ass rear end.  Hope all your rear ends are doing just fine and lit up like they should be so you will have a great day. . .

Wandering to the Texas DMV.

I didn't do my usual post the other day because, as I said, "I have stuff that needs doing".  I think I will explain.  Last week, my son and I were talking and he asked me if I had a license to drive my motor-home.  Of course my answer was, "I didn't know I needed one".  So I checked to be sure and, low and behold, he was right.  I either need a CDL or a Class-B license!  Dang, so what do I do?  He gave me a book to study.  Of course I didn't study it.  Heck, I have been driving RVs for years and this particular one for more than two years, so what has changed?  Nothing, except this one is over 26000 pounds.  I was just ignorant of the law and, as I have heard, ignorance is no excuse.  (It should be-grin).

I went in Wednesday afternoon and took the "written" test.  (It is actually multiple choice and taken on a computer)  Of course I flunked the test (guess I should have looked at the book).  There were no questions at all about driving an RV.  It was the exact same test a truck driver has to take to get a CDL license.  All those questions about the tractor and the trailer and pulling multiple trailers and how to load a truck and . . . . I hate to admit it, but I came back home and spent the remaining hours of that day and Thursday morning reading the book that my son gave me.  Then I went back and passed the test on Thursday afternoon.  It wasn't all that easy.  I don't understand it.  I have never had any problems passing tests in the past, so, I must be getting old!?!?!  My wife was a great help in my studying.

OK, I hope the next part of the test goes a little better; the actual driving part.  I can't do that until my son gets back from his trip to Sturgis, SD.  He and his girlfriend and buddy went to the big motorcycle get together up there.  Yes, they all took their bikes, but no, they didn't ride them up there.  My son towed a trailer that they put them in..  He will (or someone with the proper license) will have to drive me there, give proof that they are legally licensed to drive it and then I will have to take the driving test.  I am now making sure it is equipped with all necessary things, like three road side warning triangles and my upper center brake light red cover is broken.  They will probably check all that stuff.  Those things need done anyway, so may as well try and get them done as soon as possible so I can make an appointment for my road test.  Wish me luck and you all have a great day, you hear?

Wondering how far medicine has advanced (Part 2)

As I promised you on last Tuesday's blog posting, that I would continue further on that subject and I always try to keep my word.  So here is part 2.  Will there be a part 3?  Maybe, but not sure when.  But first let me get off the subject some.  I listed some medical uses of mummies.  But did you know that they were so plentiful that they even used them for fuel for their locomotives instead of hard to find coal or wood?  Yep, even Mark Twain saw this on his trip through Egypt and he claims he heard an engineer call out. "Damn these plebeians, they don't burn worth a cent!  Pass out a King!"

Here are some interesting medical cures that no most doctors of today do not recommend or prescribe:

For a plague sore - cut a live pigeon in half and apply half to the sore to draw out the venom.
For headache - apply the noose of a hanged man.
For gout - take rasping from a hanged man's skull.
As a snuff - snort moss from a hanged man's skull.
As an unguent - apply baby's fat.
For satyriasis (the male version of nymphomania) - "leap into a great vessel of cold water or put nettles in the codpiece."

Now I am not sure if any of the above would work, except maybe for the last one.  That would definitely cure what ailed that guy!!

Other unusual medicines were made from lice, the tale of a lizard, preparations of toad, unicorn's horn, bezoar (a stone supposedly found in the stomach of an Asian goat), and a lot more stuff I am not going to list here; I am already getting sick. . .

Strange medical cures were not only the "in" thing back then but in recent times.  In the 1950's they used radiation for a lot of things.  It was thought to be the new cure all.  I know from experience.  The doctor ordered X-ray treatments on my tonsils and adenoids to burn them out.  The doctor said it would take a lot of "treatments".  After the second one, seeing all the protective gear and how careful the technician was to avoid the X-rays, my Mom stopped the process after the second visit.  Thanks Mom!!  Of course some good may have come from completing the X-ray treatments.  I could save on electricity the rest of my life since I would glow in the dark (grin).  Now, it makes me wonder if what the physicians are practicing today will be deemed witchcraft tomorrow. . . Now, stay away from doctors and have yourself a very great day, you hear?

Got stuff that needs doing.

No blog today.  Got some important stuff I need to do.  I know I promised part 2, but maybe tomorrow.  You all have a great day now, you hear?

Wandering through Wal-Mart's Flower Garden.

The day before yesterday, we were in Wal-Mart getting some supplies.  Of course we always wander all over the store before we head for the grocery department to replenish and restock our refrigerator and cupboards with food and other supplies.  And as usual, we forgot a few things so yesterday we went to Kroger's.

While we were in Wal-Mart, I wandered through their flower garden.  Well, it isn't actually a garden; forgive me for taking poetic liberties.  Yeah, I know, it ain't no poem.

Here are a couple of pictures that I took.  To me, something doesn't seem right.  First, take a look at the pictures:

And from another angle:

To me, some of those flowers seem to have unusual colors.  When was the last time you walked through the woods and saw all these colors, except for the fall when there are colored leaves mixed in with the late blooming wild flowers?  Actually, they do brighten up that corner of the store.

If you were expecting part 2 of yesterdays blog, that will be posted tomorrow.  Just thought I would separate it with this posting just to keep you on your toes.  Now, I hope these flowers brightened up your day.  I sure want you all to have a great day today, you hear?
