Do you remember Moe Bandy's hit song "Till I'm Too Old To Die Young"? Well, I hadn't thought about that song in years but this morning I woke up with it on my mind. The lyrics were playing over and over in my heard. That was, in my opinion, a very good song and Moe did it superbly.
I looked the lyrics up on the internet at
http://www.lyricsmode.com/
Or to be more precise:
http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/m/moe_bandy/till_im_too_old_to_die_young.html
For those of you who don't want to take the time to go to the above links, here are the lyrics to that song:
If life is like a candle bright death must be the wind
You can close your window tight and it still comes flowing in
So I will climb the highest hill and watch the rising sun
And I pray that I don't feel the chill till I'm too old to die young
Chorus
Let me watch my children grow to see what they become
Oh Lord don't let that cold wind blow till I'm too old to die young
Now I have had some dear sweet friends I thought would never die
Now the only thing that's left of them is the teardrops in my eyes
If I could have one wish today and know it would be done
Well I would say everyone could stay till they're too old to die young
Repeat chorus twice
OK, maybe not a very happy song for someone my age, but heck, I am already way too old to die young and my children grew up and my grandson has been a man for a long time. Maybe tomorrow I will wake up with a happier song going through my heard, but til then, you all have a great day, you hear?
Oh my... the songs we remember... or even better (or worse) the songs we wake up thinking about. My latest song in the mornings is "Rain Down"... a song we sing in church. Maybe because we've had a lot of rain here. The good thing, Dizzy, is that we wake up singing!
ReplyDeleteAnd the best thing is that we wake up.
DeleteThanks for the song, I found it on YouTube and listened to the version you recalled. Nice little tune. In the same vein, I suggest you consider Leonard Cohen's "Darkness" as a different take on the matter.
ReplyDeleteOh, and keep on waking up ... it makes the evil bastards amongst us squirm.
I will try to find the song you suggested and yes, let us keep them squirming.
DeleteI don't think I ever heard that song, or maybe I was just too young to consider it. I get a song in my head once in a while, sometimes not exactly a song I'd like to remember!
ReplyDeleteIt was an old country western song. Old country and bluegrass are what I like.
DeleteWaking up in the morning is wonderful kinda really makes my day.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to be too old to die young, never thought I would have made it.
Back when I was a kid, someone my age would have been ancient!!!
