I decided that since it is early in the month, I would run in and get my Jeep inspected since the inspection and license sticker will both run out at the end of the month. Actually, so does my motorhome, but it will not start, so that will have to wait. That old Jeep passed with flying colors and you know, that has been a really, really great vehicle. It has a two speed transfer case and a neutral position for the transfer case so that it can be towed without dropping the drive shaft or putting it on a trailer. Makes it really simple.
With the new laws that just went into affect, you can not get registration and sticker or plates (my plates are at the age that they will replace them) without proof of a current inspection. Well that is done and one thing off my mind and the "to do" list. Now, you all have a great day, you hear?
Glad your Jeep passed the inspection... isn't it great when you have a vehicle that you love... (and it doesn't give you trouble)? Ours aren't due until September.... not sure what we'll do about the inspection since we probably won't be back in Texas until November. Oh well....
ReplyDeleteEither get it before you go or risk sneaking back into Texas and get it inspected then. Since my RV will run out this month and it isn't running, I will have to do the same thing except I only have ten or twelve miles to go to the inspection station. They told me today that for ten bucks I could get a permit for a one way trip (to the inspections station). I told them I was a gambler and would just drive it in when I get it up and running and take my chances.

With the new laws it's tough to be a full time RVer from Texas. If you come back during the correct month I guess it's not that bad.
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess it is better than before. Now, you only have to come back once, before you may not have had inspection run out the same time registration did and that would need two trips back.
DeleteBut then you would want your toad (towed vehicle) to be on the same schedule as the RV.
DeleteIn NH I can get my registration and inspection up to 3 months early. Gives me the leeway I need when doing the Snowbird thing.

DeleteA good Jeep is a thing of beauty and seems to run forever. A troublesome one is the opposite.
