Wondering About Death Valley Days.

My wife and I love watching the old TV shows, like the black and white versions of Gunsmoke, Death Valley Days, Bat Masterson, Wyatt Earp, etc.   The Death Valley Days that we have been watching was narrated by the Old Ranger and the newer ones by Ronald Reagan, who also acted in quite a few of them.  Here is a picture of the twenty mule team that pulled the borax and water wagons:

And a picture of the Old Ranger:

Now, they have colorized the show and it looks like this:

And then Ronald Reagan took over for the Old Ranger:

Both as narrator and actor:

And while I am at it, here is a color picture of the twenty mule team and wagons:

How many of you remember that show?  How many of you remember their sponsor, Twenty Mule Team Borax?  I like the Western Channel because of all the older shows that it broadcasts.  I would say that it is my favorite channel and my wife's favorite channel is QVC.  Oh well, I can't win them all (grin).  Now you all tell me what some of your favorite shows are and make sure that you all have a great day, you hear?

  1. I do remember that show... some of those old westerns are fun to watch again and again. But I haven't owned a TV for close to 40 years now... we removed the TV that came with our motorhome and use that space for Bills genealogy records.... About the only time we see a TV is when we're staying in a hotel.

    1. With out a TV to waste most of your time, I bet you and Bill get a lot of things done and have more time to plan your travels.

  4. I remember Death Valley days, clearly with Reagan but I remembered the Old Ranger.
As for old TV... The Beverly Hillbillies & Gilligan's Island (B&W) come to mind faster than Gunsmoke or Rawhide.

    1. Gilligan and the Hillbillies are also on TV again. I am glad that Dish has brought back some of those good old shows.

  5. As a kid I listened to The Lone Ranger, The Cisco Kid, Sky King, etc. They were never the same when moved to TV - I guess I had the scenes and people fixed in my mind and it didn't match the Hollywood director's mind. I've never been much of a TV watcher, and probably watch more now than I ever did because I can see science programs on cable, as well as other topics that interest me. Commercial TV doesn't carry much that I'm interested in, although I love the local channel for the weather.

  6. Oh yes, I remember all of them. I listened to a lot of radio programs back in the good old days. Do you remember Straight Arrow? I liked that one. And of course Inter Sanctum did its best to scare me to death. . .

    1. I bet those crystal snow flakes are beautiful. And yes, it was a little before your time. I am probably twice as old as you are or more.

  8. I never knew that this show was recognized as one of the Television Series with the Most Number of Episodes ever. I just watched this show through DVD's and I'm really amazed how they featured various stories and characters per episode. And I really enjoy watching classical TV series. Anyway, can you recommend me any great TV series from 70's and 80's?
