Flea Market, Nap, and Races.

Yep, it is the weekend already.  How time does fly when you get my age.  That meant that we went to the Flea Market.  We walked around to see what was on all the outside tables.  I talked to the vendors and my wife bought from the vendors.  She found a lot more supplies for her crafting.  Buying stuff there is quite a savings over retail prices in the stores.  I didn't find anything I couldn't live without today, but there is still tomorrow.

After lunch today, a got real sleepy.  I don't like to take naps during the day, but today was an exception.  I got so sleepy I couldn't keep awake so I went and took a nice nap.  Now I am trying to get woke up.

I got awake just in time to watch the NHRA Top Fuel Drag Racing Qualifying.  Elimination will be tomorrow.  I have told you before that it is my favorite professional sport and the only one that that I watch on TV and follow.  I used to go to all the Top Fuel Races when they came to my area.  Enjoyed the sound, the feel, the smell. . . it was awesome.

It has sprinkled here some, but we never really got a good rain and we need it.  Yes MsBelinda, we are getting some rain and I think Houston had more than we did the other day.  Now, every one have a great day, you hear?

  1. Dang, I'm day behind, musta been napping. Now as far as that ghost in the picture you wrote about yesterday, you'll notice the writing on the rear view mirror, "Objects are closer than they appear!" Evidently that applies to apparitions from out of town. So, just nod your head, say howdy, and put the hammer down liken you were in the final elimination of the Top Fuel Jeep drivers.

    3. Yep, you are right. Now, tell me, was that apparition in the picture a ghost, a ghoul, or in our imagination? I still think the troll under the bridge had something to do with it.

  2. Thought I'd better wander over here. I'm wondering why it's call a flea market? I'm wondering why drag racing is hardly known about in Britain.

I hope you get that much needed rain. I wish I could send you some of ours.

Y'all enjoy the rest of your weekend.

    1. Stock Car and Drag Racing are American thangs don't ya know.

We don't play much cricket nor chase foxes (except for those few trying to emulate the British).

    2. There is one Englishman driver and a one driver from Australia. So, other English speaking countries have cars and drivers here in the states. But like Ed says, drag racing started here in the (colonies) states.

    3. Yep Ed, Stock Car racing came out of the prohibition days when the moonshiners had fast cars to out-run the feds and then they started racing to see who had the fastest car. I believe drag racing started in California.

  3. Thanks for the weather report. I am glad it has been raining as I worry about the foundation of my house cracking in this drought. Though after all the rainfall this month I guess I don't need to worry about it for a while.

I used to love to go to the flea market in Southwest Houston. I furnished and decorated my first apartment from the great bargains I found there.

    1. This one I go to is only a few minutes up the road. My wife gets a lot of things from there. I, too, sometimes find treasures I just have to have. . .

  5. I do like the rain if it doesn't try and come all at once! I have a feeling this is going to be a very hot Summer!

    1. There were a couple of summers recently that never got over a hundred. But I wouldn't bet too much money on it doing again soon.

  6. All I remember about drag racing is that the Spring Nationals were held in Newark, OH... probably in the spring (duh).... Probably not as high tech as what you're watching. Me... the smell of the fuel nauseates me... I wouldn't make a good race fan.

    1. Today's race is at Englishtown, N.J. They burn nitomethane and it has an unique odor. They will be in Norwalk, OH this coming July 3rd thru 6th. That is probably the closest to you. If you have never experienced the thunder of a top fuel car accelerating from 0 to 330 mph in less than 4 secs, you haven't lived yet (grin) and you should go once. Reserved seat have to be purchased months in advance but there are non-reserved seats, also.
