The post I wrote and posted this morning was removed. Why, you may ask. My better half always proof reads my blog after I post it to see how many misspelled words and improperly used phrases I put in it. I removed it because my wife said it was gross and sickening and since my wife is the chief cook and bottle washer around here and I like to eat, well, I did as she said and took it off. If any of you were quick enough to read it for the short time that it was up, good for you.
I wrote about a headless chicken that lived for a long time, 18 months or so. I even put pictures of him on it. But, listening to the house critic, I took it down. Her criticism is usually correct and right on so I change things. This time I don't think she was right. Here is a link to one of the stories: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_the_Headless_Chicken
And another:

And if you want more, just Goggle it. It is even on YouTube. Just type in "Mike the Headless Chicken" and see what all you can find. I did have a great blog posted with lots of pictures and facts about Mike. Now, if you want to know more about it, you can start by following the links I have posted and put the story together for yourselves. Now, you all keep your heads and have a very great day, you hear?
Sorry, but without even reading it I'm with your wife on this one. I've watched chickens being killed for dinner, and they don't last long without their heads, although their nervous system makes them flop around for a brief time.
ReplyDeleteThis was a story about a headless chicken that lasted a year and a half with its owner feeding it with a dropper, dropping nourishment down its neck. Sounds impossible, doesn't it?
DeleteI think you made this up,, but if not, i darn sure agree with your wife..
ReplyDeleteNo, I didn't make it up. Goggle it.
Deleteoh good grief... I'm glad I missed it.. good for your wife! jeeeeeezus... I saw the update and the title clicked on it and not there... thanks to your wife!
ReplyDeleteI will tell her you are on her side.
DeleteI clicked on your blog early... said it wasn't available. It wouldn't have bothered me one way or the other (I haven't clicked on your websites yet)... but what's funny to me is... I always have Bill read my blog before I publish.. he corrects my technical stuff... and while he's used to my run-on sentences etc. he's pretty good at telling me when I don't make sense ;-) What would we do without our loving proofreaders who care enough to correct us?
ReplyDeletehahaaa, Sharon... well? you end up with posts like I do ... that's what you dooooooo
DeleteYes, usually she is a great help, but I was upset with her this morning!!
DeleteHm, I've had to remove stuff in the past, but it's usually to do with me going on about relatives. And they're MY relatives, dammit! But the boss sometimes takes exception to my "wit". Or maybe it's sarcasm.
ReplyDeleteNobody proof reads otherwise, which may be a mixed blessing.
My wife has a different sense of humor than I have.
DeleteInteresting topic. I like headless chicken in a pot, not on its feet. That's just me.
ReplyDeleteJill, I must agree with you on the chicken in a pot.
DeleteI've just read your original chicken post on Feedly because it doesn't remove the article. Very interesting about the headless chicken but I think your wife may have had a point and you want to continuue to live a comfortable life with her, don't you? Ha, ha ha.
ReplyDeleteThis coming summer we will have been married for 50 years, so yes, I listened to her.
DeleteCONGRATULATIONS in advance to both of you. I hope you both do something very special for the day and celebrate in style with all your family and friends. That's truly a landmark.
DeleteHave a great and romantic weekend too.
No plans have been made as of yet.
