We were heading north on Interstate 45 and just south of Willis, TX is where I discovered it because people would pass me and point back at the Jeep I was towing behind the motorhome. by the time I hot stopped it was smoking. The picture tells the rest of the story. We were heading for Huntsville State Park. We went on our way after the flat bed wrecker took the Jeep back to my place and dropped it there.
At least you got stopped before it decided to catch afire. Replacing the tire and some minor body work is a lot cheaper than replacing the Jeep and the rig.
Hate to see that, hope you can salvage, repair and continue on down the road.
ReplyDeleteThe Jeep was towed back home and we went on. I just got back from walking one of the dogs. It is still warm. Cold front expected soon.
DeleteDon't think you'll be repairing that tire! Was it a blow-out?
ReplyDeleteThat would be my guess, although it could have been loosing air for awhile and I would never have noticed.
DeleteOOOO,,, where are you?
ReplyDeleteMissed it if you said.
Didn't go far, the Jeep trouble put an end to that. We just went to Huntsville State Park. It is about 30 to 40 miles from my home.
DeleteWow! Were you towing that Jeep or driving it when that happened? Hope y'all came out of it okay!

DeleteGlad you are able to continue your trip without the Jeep. That must have been something to see.
ReplyDeleteI sure could have gone without seeing it, but since it happened, glad I got stopped in time before it caught on fire.
DeleteBTW, it left a black streak down the road.
DeleteI am sorry about that...
ReplyDeleteDon't be, I'm not feeling sorry. Things happen.

ReplyDeleteYew, we were very lucky. I think on the way home I will take the back roads and bypass the interstate's road construction area.
DeleteHad to back track and read what had happened.
ReplyDeleteI ditto what Wil said above.
It is always best to count one's blessings instead of his problems. I am lucky that I didn't get any more damage than I did.
