I bet that is a blast to drive, not much weight and a big engine. Kind of reminds me of my teenage years when they first started making hot-rods like these. Do you remember the Walt Disney movie "The Shaggy Dog"? It reminds of the car that was in that movie.
That movie hit the big screen back in 1959 when I turned 16 years old. Maybe that is why I liked the hot rods. But back then I was going on dates in a 1955 DeSoto. Oh, I am not knocking that car, it was a good one. After my Dad, a salesman for H.J. Heinz company, thought he had wore it out after a few hundred thousand miles let me have it. It was not a hot rod but it had four wheels and would go down the road. Never the less, I have good memories of "my first car". OK, now you all have a great day and be careful going down the road, you hear?
Dizzy, I had a 1941 DeSoto as a first car. Boy did it run.

Phylis, Yes we did!! The Korean war was the only blemish and then the start of the Vietnam conflict. But they were good times and good music, wish I could go back to that era.

My first car I bought from my grandmother for $400, a 1974 Pontiac Grand Prix. It had a big engine and it constantly ate mufflers. But it was my first car and it was awesome.

ReplyDeleteI still have my first car a 1972 Cutlass sitting in my garage with a flat tire and a dead battery. Hope to one day have the $$$ to be able to transport it to Del Rio and have it worked on.

No Dizzy it cost too much to have it fixed here in Houston and I really do not have a mechanic that I trust.
ReplyDeleteMy Houston mechanic retired and sold his business about a decade ago. Last mechanic I took my other vehicle to here in town was a rip off.
