Pictures of the Evening Sky

Last evening, the sky looked really pretty to me and to add to it, the moon was visible.  From where I was standing, the moon was just over the top of the trees:

Of course I had to move to a different location for another shot.  Aren't the pink clouds pretty?

I walked on out the driveway and took another picture:

This last picture is looking west.  The sun had already set, but the sky was still very pretty and bright:

That, my friends, was a sunset from my house and I am sending it to you, my readers, so you can also enjoy it.  Of course pictures did not do it justice, but they do give you an idea of how pretty it was.  Now, I hope all your sunsets and sunrises are beautiful and make sure you have a great day, you hear?

  2. It's hard to capture the true beauty of a great evening sky. However, you did a pretty good job. Nice!

    1. Thank you but it was much better in person than what the pictures show.

  3. The sky... morning, noon or night... cloudy, clear... dark or light... never fails to fascinate me. We've been seeing gorgeous cumulus formations that billow high into the sky lately... I realized I was taking them for granted when a visitor told me that where he lives at Sitka, Alaska, they do not get these types of clouds. Made me really appreciate what I see.

    1. Yes mam, cumulus nimbus clouds are really pretty, except when they produce a storm and then they are a different kind of pretty.

    1. Mother Nature does do a good job of painting the evening sky.

  5. Once in a while the skies where I live get smoky from the forest fires up in the foothills and Sierra, and they look other-wordly but beautiful.

    1. I guess even a damaging fire has benefits in pruning the forest and making your skies other-worldly and beautiful. I understand that some tree seeds need a fire to crack them so they can sprout. I will have to Google that to see for sure.

  8. I do enjoy watching the sky and clouds, Dizzy. And thank you for sharing yours with us. I sometimes call Hubby while I'm driving to work and tell him to go outside so we can share the sunrise. Silly, but still fun - it's what we do. Take time to watch the clouds - and trees! I do enjoy the trees and clouds, and luckily I can see lots of both from my office 2 story entry. Guess if I have to work, it could get a lot worse!

    1. It is not silly, but rather, it is a beautiful thing that you share between you and your husband.

  9. I love it when the sky is pink, especially when it's the sunset Western sky. Seems softer and prettier across from the sunset. Your photos are beautiful! :)

    1. Thanks Barbara, blue is my favorite color and nothing brings the blue out of the sky than a few white, and in this case, pink clouds.

  10. I admire the sunset, but don't need the heat advisory. Hope you get a respite soon.

    1. I think this week will be the first time we have hit a hundred this year, a little late and we were hoping Mother Nature forgot to turn up the heat this year, but NO, we were wrong.

    1. You are very welcome, Jim. Did you see that big old moon last night? Even with the blinds closed it lit up the bedroom.
