Wondering About a Guitar.

I finally bought something at the flea market.  Well, actually, I didn't buy it from a vendor there, but from a guy I know.  He said he had it in his vehicle and had not played it in a lot of years, so wanted to sell it.  He told me the amount he was offered for it and turned down and I jokingly told him I would offer the same amount.  Dang, he accepted, saying this way he knew it would have a good home.  So now I have two real good guitars.  The one on the left is my old reliable Ovation and the one on the right is a Fender flat top acoustical, the new member to the household:

It still has the protective film on the pick guard.  Since I finger-pick, that is not necessary for me, but I will leave it on.  This next picture is of the back of the guitars.  Big difference there:

The formed parabolic back on the Ovation is great for sound but not near as pretty as the woodwork on the Fender.

The icing on the cake is that it came with a genuine Fender case:

See, it even has "Fender" written on it:

Thanks to this friend, I now have the best of both acoustic worlds, at least I think so and that is all that matters, right?  You all have a great day and if you ever come to visit, I have an extra guitar you can play. . . then we can have a duet.  Now strum a pretty tune and have a great day, you hear?

  1. That is certainly a beautiful guitar. How is it to play? Do you notice a big difference between it and the Ovation?

    1. To me, the Ovation is easier to play, but I am use to it. They both play well and sound good. I am pleased.

  3. My first husband played the guitar... tried to get me to learn to do the "second part" of Alabama Jubilee.... he did the finger picking style... I still can't hear "Freight Train" without thinking of "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote... because David played that song over and over and over again while I read that book. We divorced in 1979 and each went our separate ways... he took his guitar with him... I can't remember what brand it was... But I still have an appreciation for finger pickin' music.... Chet Atkins lives!

    1. Dang, he must have hit a bad chord with you (grin). I am not real good at it, but I play enough to entertain myself and the dogs don't howl.

  4. That's a beautiful guitar. I hear the cases are hard to come by, at least ones in decent shape.

  5. If you and Dusty ever make it down to the Chili Cook-off you can bring both guitars. Someone is always playing one over a roaring campfire.

The new guitar and its case seem to be in great shape. Good score :)

    1. Not sure if we will ever go to the cook-off, but hope to be in that area again sometime. It has been a long time since I have been in Del Reo, may have to give that a try again. I sure do like the Davis Mountains State Park. I know I will try to get back there sometime.
