Wondering about some road-side flowers.

We went down to the Cut and Shoot Post Office to pick up and send our mail yesterday as we do every day except Sunday.  I noticed that there were some pretty flowers growing along the road so I went further down the road and turned south on the Loop.  There is a turn-a-round where the loop goes over the railroad tracks.  There is very little traffic that uses it, so I could take my time and snap a few pictures from the car window.  Yes, I know that these "wild" flowers were planted so technically they aren't wild, right?  There was a mixture of Blue Bonnets, Indian Paint Brushes, and some purple flower you will see in the last picture.  This time of year has a lot of beautiful flowers and these sure are:

This one shows how close they grow to the road:

 Another patch of Blue Bonnets:

And a mixture of  different wild flowers:

Don't forget, you can click on the pictures to enlarge them.  Just thought everyone could use some wild beauty in their lives this Saturday morning.  Now, you all have a great day, you hear?

  2. Love those bluebonnets!!!!! Hope we get back to Texas in time to see them. (April 3rd).... Lupines are one of my favorite flowers, but the bluebonnets look so different than the lupines that grow in Maine. I love all species!

  3. Trouble, yep, if he would have told me maybe I could have saved a couple hundred bucks. The plumber should be here in an hour or two.

The Odd Essay, There is every color you can imagine, from white, yellow, blue, purple, red, orange, pink, etc. This is a pretty time of year.

  4. Remember a weed is a flower that has not been discovered.

  5. Jusstastick, I always said anything growing where you don't want it is a weed. That could be flowers, vegetables, or just plain old weeds.

  6. Howdy! I just popped over from Gary's blog. You left a comment there that said you were a ham. I haven't run into many other hams in the blogosphere, so I figured I'd stop by and say hi. Call sign here is AF4FO, and we're located in GA. (Hubby's a ham, too... K4HBI) I was the GA section manager for a number of years, and now I'm enjoying being a "nobody" again and meeting lots of folks through blogging. By the way, that gun safety thing you found at the flea market is a real hoot. 73, Susan

  8. Susan, my call is WB3DZY, the DZY part is where my nickname (Dizzy) came from. That is my original call. My Icom is in my motor-home so all I have in the house at this time is my duel band. A long time ago I took my test for Extra class and got 100 percent on the written exam but flunked the 20 wpm code, so just stayed with my advance ticket.
