Wondering about Bob Ross and my dog's new hat.

I think clouds are beautiful.  Every time my wife and I see some beautiful clouds, she says that Bob Ross is up in heaven painting his clouds again.  His TV shows are still being run on PBS stations.  Remember Bob Ross?

I took the next two pictures while standing on my deck and looking west over the roof of my home.  I thought the way the lighting hit the clouds made them stand out.  Maybe I will try to paint them some day.

As we were driving down the road, I saw clouds of a different pattern and took this shot through the windshield of my Jeep:

Our oldest pup, Ginger Muffin, wanted to try on some hats.  My wife found a small one (for dolls, I think) and let her try it on.  Muffy thought she looked quite charming and posed for this picture.  Don't you agree that she is charming?

Now, for all you charming people out there, I hope all your clouds stay puffy and white and that you all have a great day, you hear?

  1. Bob Ross was the highlight of my day, back then. We don't get his shows now, or I would still be watching them.

  2. Hard to believe that Bob Ross used to be a drill sergeant and yell at people for a living. He was always so relaxing to watch paint.

I still smile at the thought of happy trees.

  3. Trouble, can you get any public broadcast system (pbs) channel there? If so, call or write them and request they put it on. Get your friends in the are to call, too.

Sixbears, Yes I agree. I can not picture him as a drill sergeant. Would he have "happy" privates in his squad?

  4. Actually, Muffy looks miffed.

It is common around here to hear Joe yelling: Come see this!!

We are now "cloud people". For some reason, we never gave the sky much thought until we landed in Florida. Where we lived in Indiana, we were surrounded by hills. Before the sun could set, it was behind a hill.

The only good I can say about flat land, is you see THE SKY in a panoramic 360 degree view.

  5. Oh! Forgot to add: I'm writing your wife today. I put your email in my KEEP file, hoping google doesn't lose it for me.

PLUS....Bob's VOICE! He sounded so grounded and mellow. And he died of a heart attack. How weird is that, and SO sad.

  6. I still carry around my "Peterson's Field Guide to the Clouds". It's a small paperback and is handy to look up everything from the "Green Flash" to Buttermilk clouds. Muffy looks like a character out of the 1940's.. veil and all!

    1. I never heard about that one. I do have Peterson's Field Guide to the Birds. Have had it many, many, many years. . . Some times Muffy is a character out of the 1940's.

  7. lotta joy, it is flat where I live but with all the trees there is very little horizon that can be seen. Thanks for writing to my wife. BTW, Bob Ross died of cancer, lymphoma to be exact. Of course in the end his heart did stop.

  8. Used to watch ol' Bob all the time!

I remember him saying "here's where a happy little tree lives!"

    Good series!

    1. I wonder if that is where the guy on Duck Dynasty got the idea for saying "happy, happy"?

    1. I am not so sure she likes it very much. . . She did't want to keep it on. She likes to wear shrits, though.

  10. My friend, thanks for this. I'd being trying to remember the name of that guy from that PBS show just recently.

Incredible and it brings back a lot of memories. I also recollect, I think I got this right, that a guy with a German accent also had a painting show. Something about "a mighty stroke".

I'm liking those clouds. Ginger Muffin is a style icon.

    Good day to you, sir.

    1. I think the painter you are thinking about is Bill Alexander. My wife used to watch him, too. For some reason I don't remember him, but my memory isn't as good as it used to be.. .. Since your Penny is an internet star, my Muffin got jealous and wanted to share some of the lime light (grin).

    2. Thanking you and thanking your good wife for remembering the name of the guy I was thinking about. Much appreciated.

Ginger Muffin is well on the way to superstar status. Penny has told me this! :)
