The Lodge at Davis Mountains State Park.

For those of you who would like to visit the Davis Mountains State Park but do not travel in an RV or prefer not to stay in a tent, there is a nice lodge located there with wi-fi, a restaurant, a pool, a small shop, and of course rooms.  It is located on  the far end of the park at the end beginning of the valley.  Here are some pictures.  The first one is taken from where my RV was parked:

 And an enlargement of it:

My wife took this one out of the Jeep's side window as we were driving up to the lodge:

And another one as we approached a little closer:

And of course I had to get into the picture to show you that I was actually there.  This was in the court yard just outside the shop (the open door on the left of the picture is the entrance to the shop).

I would think that this would be a pleasant place to stay, but I am very happy and satisfied in my home on wheels.  Now, you all have a great day today, you hear?

  1. Interesting country, but a bit too dry for my tastes. My lovely wife and I spent some time in West TX but decided we were not desert people. The dry dusty air was very hard on my lungs. We prefer the lusher East TX. Still, nice country.

  2. Gosh I just do NOT know how I miss some of your "yesterday" blogs. Left a comment on drags, tho.
I'm sure not a desert person, love the area I live in.

  3. Sixbears, this was like an island oasis in the middle of a vast nothingness. Or something like that.

Trouble, I replied to your comment on the drag racing. I wouldn't call where I was a dessert. The area I used to go gold prospecting in Arizona was a real desert.

  4. I missed riding around in a RV. I drove one through the Rockies, okay not literally. It was from Banff to Jasper. Quite the contrasting terrain to the ones in your photos. And the last photo made such an amazing ending to your posting. Z Z Top would be well jealous, y'all....

  5. Klahanie, that would have been a picturesque drive you took. BTW, I have been called that before. An American Indian acquaintance was the first to call me Z Z Top.

  6. Nice lodge but I wonder how much it cost to rent a room there?

  7. MsB, since I prefer to stay in my own RV, I never thought to ask. I just looked it up and the lowest cost overnight room is $95.00. Check it out at http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/davis-mountains

    1. Thank you for the link Dizzy.

At $95.00 for the lowest costing overnight room, it would put a hurting on my budget. But maybe when I find my tall weathered cowboy we could honeymoon here :D
