Wandering a little further west.

Yesterday, I posted about Terlingua, Texas and showed pictures that I took in that desert ghost town.  Today, I am going to move a little more west and show you pictures that I took in the Arizona desert.  I have been to this same area twice and am looking forward to going again.  What brought me here was gold prospecting on G.P.A.A.'s gold claims and outings that they hold in the ghost town of Stanton at the foot of "Rich Hill".  Rich Hill was the site of the "potato patch" where, during the gold rush of the 1800's they discovered potato size nuggets.

The first two are along the dirt road to Stanton:

The rest are of the desert:

Hope you enjoyed the pictures.  It rained all yesterday and last night so had to show some pictures to dry me out.  Have a good day not, you hear?

  1. I've yet to make it to Arizona. The southwest is too dry for my liking, even though it has a beauty all its own.

  6. Six bears, some of the beauty is its harshness. If it doesn't stick you it will bite out, but a lot safer than a city.

HJ, it makes it a lot nicer to get out in it than to just look from the road. BTW, I carry a hand held GPS unit. And of course a metal detector.

Jimkabob, yep it is about time, you don't want to wait another 50. On your way out there, stop and pick me up. No, I didn't know about it. It was raining here last night.

David, there are a lot of places I want to see but will never get to. Not enough time or money left.

Trouble, I didn't know about it, thanks. I will tell you what that meant, it meant that my wife was rushing me to leave for the flea market and I got rushed. She blaims stuff on me so turn around is fair play.

  7. Me's thinking where those earthquakes were is around where they are drilling for natural gas.

  8. David, I wonder if they were using hydraulic tracking in that area? I would think that process could cause quakes.

  9. Don't know DD, but if I was the suspecting type I'd be suspecting that either that or pressure being relieved could cause it.

  10. What city is the closest? We live in central Arizona relatively near Sedona.

  11. David, there is a fault one in that area, too.

JMD, Congress is the closest town with a fire station. Further south is Wickenburg.
