Wondering “Why did I do that?”

First, let me say to all of you on this Memorial Day, remember all the military people that served, are serving, or especially the ones that gave their lives in the line of duty.  Also, remember all who have passed on.  When I was growing up, my parents took me and we went to several grave yards where close relatives were interned.  Always put flags on the graves of ones who had been veterans along with flowers on all, especially my grandparents’ graves.

Now, I have previously covered the simple phrases, “why not” and “what if”, so now I want to cover one other simple phrase, “why did I do that?”  This is probably one of my most used phrases.  Why, because I do things that later have caused me pain in one way or another or it made matters worse.  You know what I am talking about, like locking your house or car with the keys inside, lifting something that is way too heavy for your back, or saying something negative to your spouse.  Why oh why did I do that!  Sometimes you know right away and sometimes it takes a matter of hours or the next day.  The fallout can last quite awhile, especially if it is something you said to your spouse (grin).  Now, why did I say that?  My wife reads my blog sometimes.

Now tell me, are you all perfect and never say or do anything that you wish you hadn’t?  If so, give us your secret, please!!  If not, tell us some of the things you wish you had not said.  It can be simple like saying to your friend that he or she is getting old and fat or something huge like saying, “I can jump that canyon!”  Now I am going to say something that I will not be sorry I said.  You all have a great Memorial Day and remember those who have gone before, you hear?

  9. I grew up in Evans City and the cemetery is where The Night of the Living Dead was filmed..so for me cemeteries are where you get brave or run...we always went there on Halloween. It can be a creepy place after sundown. It's on top of hill outside of town in the woods. The town now has a zombie fastible in Oct. Today I plan on lifting something to heavy. We are replacing the roof on a spring house in the woods. My husband built the roof at our house..its metal. I will have boots, jeans and a longsleeve shirt ( its 90 degrees) we don't worry about snakes but underbrush/thorns and ticks.PA is a jungle right now and will be until Oct. Could use a pair of boots like your mom's.

  10. Jill, didn't they also use a shopping center in Pittsburgh for that movie? Don't lift too much weight and be careful.
