Wondering when the drought will break.

We should have had 18 inches or so of rain by now this year and we have only had about a quarter of an inch. And we didn’t have significant amounts of rain last fall. It is not a pretty sight at my place. It is still mostly green, but that can’t last for long.

I took a walk all around my place yesterday and it didn’t look good. The swamp/pond that when full takes up over 5 acres, is down to a couple of puddles, one with pig bones showing. We are having another beautiful day. That is the trouble; we have had way too many drop dead gorgeous days. Of course, a hurricane or tropical storm could reverse everything in one day. I would prefer a slower recovery. You know, one that consisted of a slow rain once every week with gorgeous days in between. Now, don’t you think that would be a good plan?

Went to Wal-Mart yesterday to get some supplies and I decided to get a back-up chip for my camera. I was having trouble finding one and the sales gal helped me out. She said that they were obsolete and it was good thing that I was buying one, because when these few were gone they would not be replaced. Guess my camera is older than I thought. It is doing a good job so now I have a spare chip. I did notice that the cost of it was double what the new chips are. Guess antiques are more expensive. Gee, I must be worth a lot.

You all have a great day now, you hear?

  1. It is so dry here I feel my face cracking as I type. Chapstick is my new best friend. It is so dry here when you go to town all the neighbors know as the dust from driving down the road hangs in the air for 1/2 hour. The seals on my car are dry...and started leaking! It is so dry after washing clothes they are dry in the basket before I can hang them up.

  3. Well, being that it is so dry down there, You gonna dredge out the pond some more? You did that a couple years ago didn' you ? At the very least a good time to do some edge brush whacking to make you an easier place to walk around huh?

  4. Frann, a few years back I used to go prospecting in the high Arizona desert. Used lots of skin cream. Not that bad here, but we have had humidity lows like I have never seen except when in a cold winter spell. Unusual weather, but nice.

Bob, I was on a trip when my old camera (one that used 3.5 inch floppy disks for memory) mal-functioned. I went to Wal-Mart in Gallup, NM and found a camera on sale. Must have been a discontinued model. That was in March of 2008.

  5. Sounds like you need to stock up on those chips to me!

Now days it's hard to keep up with things! As soon as you buy something, it's out of date!

  6. Hermit, I don't often eat potatoe chips. . . OH, you mean camera storage chips. Actually, I may start looking for another newer camerea as a back-up. Vehicles and electronics are "old" when you take them from the dealers.
