Empty flat spaces in my house are extremely rare, so finding a place to work can be a challenge. We just seem to have so many different projects going on at the same time that we run out of places to work. Now don’t tell me that you don’t have that problem.
I like to paint a picture or two now and then, and I needed a place to put my brushes, paints, etc. We purchased a couple of nice folding tables and thought that we would use them in the RV. We do use them when on a trip, but have found out that they come in real handy for everyday use in the house.
I am working (off and on) on a painting of one of the ruins at Terlingua. Of course I am using a little imagination and putting mountains where a ravine should be, but other than that, it should be close to accurate. I took pictures and am working off a quick sketch I made. Here is the sketch:

After I get the painting done, I will show it to you.
Anyway, here is a picture of my painting work table. I use acrylics because my wife can’t stand the smell of oils in the house.

I wonder did Leonardo da Vinci have such problems. Your sketch looks great you are an artist.
ReplyDeleteI agree with frann. Shoot , only thing I ever been able to draw is flies on a hot day. And to think I married an artist. Now I do appreciate art and have voluntarily gone to art shows and museums. There is one painting I stood and looked at for what seemed hours, it was a simple painting of an ole Dutch Gentleman, The more I looked the better it got.. Heck you could even see the gold flecks reflected in his eyes. and the pours in his skin.

Fran, Oil paint is the easiest and you can do more with it, acrylic is next in line, and I think water colors are the hardest. Thanks for your kind comment.
ReplyDeleteBen, I, too, can draw flies, and it don't need to be that warm. You know the last two nights the low was 60 degrees here? I am not an artist, I just play at it. I am not even in the ball park with "good" artists. I like paintings that look like photographs. I mean, realistic.
I remember seeing some of those old ruins down Terlingua way. The road from there to Presidio is spectacular.

Howdy Penny, I took many pictures of all parts or the ruins and some that look close to my sketch, but I took artistic liberties with the sketch. I use the pictures for reference and to get the colors correct.
