Wandering to Junction, TX KOA

On all our trips to the west, except for the one we went the northern route, we head directly west on TX 105, which passes within a mile of where I live. We take 105 to TX 290 which takes us through Austin and Fredericksburg and dead ends at I-10 just east of Junction. We usually stay the fist night out at the Junction KOA and the last night of the return trip. Sometimes, when not in a hurry, we stop in between home and Junction at Bastrop State Park.

I was reading a blog yesterday about KOA RV parks. I have to say that I use them a lot. They are convenient and there always seems to be one when you need it. Most of the time, the visits to them are pleasant. My wife and I both enjoy the KOA at Junction and have always found it a welcome stop.

Being next to the river allows for wildlife to be viewed. We have seen deer and all kinds of different and rare birds. On the way to Terlingua last spring, we saw a huge flock of yellow headed black birds. We were told that it was extremely rare to see so many that far North. By the time I got my camera out, they were gone. But did get some pictures of some other interesting birds.

We always look forward to a stop over there. Usually see deer come down to the river for a drink. Maybe someday we will see you there, too.
